There are so many things I can say of my experience of having a Doula in my labor, and one of them is that Regina Higgs (Gina) is made for this. She definitely knows what she’s doing, the confidence that she transmits is contagious. My family and I are very grateful for all the support she gave us on the big day, it was like an angel sent from God. I really recommend this Doula because on those moments you need someone to have your back so you can focus more in the moment you will see your baby’s face. Thank you Gina!
Definitely recommend her services!! Gina and I connected through labor of love doula services💕 having her as a doula helped me achieve the natural/ unmedicated birth I've always envisioned. My first birthing experience was very traumatic ending in an unexpected emergency c-section💔 This time I wanted to avoid any unnecessary interventions, so I knew I had to hire a labor assistant, who understood what I wanted to achieve this second time around, especially because I was going for an unmedicated VBAC, which is unfavorable in many hospitals. Gina understood exactly the birth I wanted and was very supportive of it. I hired her at 28 weeks and leading up until it was time for baby to be born, she was very consistent with answering any questions I had and very knowledgeable of the birth I wanted to achieve. When I went into active labor I contacted her right away and she met me at the hospital in less than 20 mins after I arrived, considering we both lived about 45mins from hospital. My labor progressed pretty quickly but because of babies position the pushing phase went on for hourrss 😩 literally lol. I was getting restless and relentless, the pain was becoming unbearable, I thought the birth I envisioned was going to end in another c-section😕 Gina reassured me that I was going to for sure push this baby out and that's exactly what happened! She was not only helpful physically but also emotionally and spiritually. Her words of encouragement help put my mind at ease. I will forever be grateful for her support while giving birth to my first son💙
I would not have been able to push through in labor and achieve my desire of a natural birth without Gina! I felt well prepared for my birth as in our sessions before labor, she had a handbook that gave a lot of information around labor and its stages as well as different techniques to manage pain that we practiced. We went over a birth plan, but also if my ideal situation didn’t happen, other options so I could make sound decisions for myself. She was reliable and responsive to any questions I had outside of our sessions too. In the days leading up to my due date she would check in with us and recommend things to do during that time such as the Miles circuit. When I felt I needed to go to the hospital in the early hours of the morning, she picked up the phone ready to jump in to her supportive role. As prepared as I felt, my labor ended up being long as my contractions weren’t progressing as strongly as they needed to and not only did I not want an epidural but the epidural likely would’ve slowed my progression even more. She was so helpful with coaching me and being a support to not only me but my husband as well on how we could work through this unexpected hiccup. Members of the staff at the hospital commented on how impressed they were with how I was able to work through the techniques Gina recommended and birth my baby. I absolutely loved the exhilaration and empowered feeling I felt being able to accomplish my natural birth and I am grateful that Gina was my doula. 10s across the board for her!
